Liberal Farm Media

Several years ago, our local, small-town Alberta newspaper was sold to a larger media company.  The newspaper was as a reflection of our largely conservative county - a beacon of light in the midst of a myriad of left-wing newspapers.  After the sale, the founder/editor was replaced with a new editor who kept the paper true to its origins.  However, after a short time that editor was replaced with a very different editor.  This editor was much younger and embraced woke, Marxist ideals.  The paper rapidly went downhill and became like most others; spewing liberal propaganda.  We now use that paper for fire starter so at least it still has one use.

Around this time, I began to notice that the farm newspapers that arrived in our mailbox were also being increasingly filled with woke nonsense, bogus man-made climate change propaganda, etc.  I wondered: Why are papers, that are targeted at people (farmers) that are largely conservative, so far left in their content?

About five years ago, I believe through reading articles on a news website, I noticed that some of the writers in these farm papers were actually based in the capital city.  My question was answered.  Many of the writers were not from a farming background or even from a rural community.  They lived and worked in one of the most liberal parts of the country.  No wonder the content in the papers were aligned with the woke / liberal / Marxist / WEF crowd.

Some of our farm newspapers have essentially been reduced to the same usefulness as our local, small-town newspaper.  For the last several years, I have thought about the need for a source of conservative farm news to counter the increasingly prevalent liberal propaganda outlets masquerading as farm papers.

Writing is far from my first choice of things to do but that is the goal of WesternFarmer.co and WesternFarmer.ca - to provide some conservative articles relevant to farming for people to enjoy.  No man-made climate change alarmism, no woke garbage, no Marxism, no ESG, no DEI, no CEI, just good conservative news and commentary.
